Update: Police Confirm Former NBA Player Lorenzen Wright Was Murdered – [Video Inside

Vidio After The Break…

Previously posted on Artistboombox, it was announced that Former NBA Player Lorenzen Wright was found dead after missing for days. Here’s an update on his death.

Baltimoresun Reports:

Memphis police have confirmed the death of Lorenzen Wright and say the former NBA player was murdered.

Police also confirmed a 911 call was placed from Wright’s phone in the early hours of July 19th, the last day he was seen by family members. Investigators determined that the call was made from the area south of Poplar Pike and west of Hacks Cross Rd.

We have learned, Germantown police are conducting an administrative review of how the Lorenzen Wright’s 911 call was handled.

We’re told Collierville PD, the Germantown PD, the Shelby County Sheriffs Department and the Memphis Police Department’s Homicide Bureau met to discuss the investigation Wednesday morning.

Collierville and Germantown investigators searched several areas and interviewed witnesses. The Memphis Police Department’s Air Support Unit searched the area from the air and the Shelby County Sheriffs Department used search dogs in the wooded areas.

Around 2:20 PM Wednesday, the Shelby County Emergency Services Search and Rescue team found Lorenzen Wright’s body off of Callis Cutoff between Hacks Cross Rd and Germantown Road in Southeast Memphis.

Memphis Police Department Homicide investigators then took over the investigation.

Wright was identified using dental records and the cause of death has been ruled as homicide. Wright was apparently shot multiple times.

Wright gained fame playing for the University of Memphis Tigers. He also played in the NBA for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Statement From Wright Family:
Lorenzen’s family has come together to mourn his loss and honor his legacy. We appreciate your thoughts, prayers and condolences as they are comforting at this very difficult time. Additionally, we ask that you please respect our privacy as we try to cope with his sudden loss. Sincerely,
The Family
